Dear Students and Parents or Guardians of Division 4,
I will be taking the students on a walking field trip to James Kennedy Elementary on Monday, February 15th to see Bill Henning (robot enthusiast) http://www.mikronauts.com/raspberry-pi/ The session will be from 12:50 to 1:40 (permission form to follow). I feel it will compliment the Hour of Code our class did in December for our computer science time.
Other upcoming events to come (likely February) include: Buddy Bowling with our little buddies in Ms. Hall’s class. Also, a P.E. and get to know you activity (to be determined) with our Pen Pals (see letter emailed home)
January 20th we have our new student teacher (Alana Stockwell) coming in for the first time to get to know Div. 4. See her letter below...
Dear Division 4 families,
I am looking forward to teaching and learning from all of you when I join division 4 on January 20th as a student teacher. In the spring of 2015 I graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelors of Arts (I completed a history major, curriculum and instruction minor, and a certificate in liberal arts). Since I first started at SFU in the fall of 2011 following my high school graduation, I have worked in several areas of education including working on education research projects at SFU with a professor from the Faculty of Education. I love being outside and going hiking, snowshoeing, mountain biking, kayaking, and so on, so I often try to incorporate lessons that involve going outside. Some of my other interests include watching hockey, playing soccer, cooking and baking, and taking care of my two dogs, Jett and Odi.
That is a little bit about me, so now I am excited to learn about and get to know all of you!
Sincerely,
Alana Stockwell
